Lincoln School students and staff cheered for the 8th grade boys' basketball team and cheerleaders today as they paraded through the school for Bulldog Appreciation Day and to congratulate them on all of their successes this year! Go Bulldogs!
Congrats to Sailor E., Winner of the American Legion Essay Contest 2025! This year's topic was, What Is My Favorite National Memorial or Monument? Sailor's choice was the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. in honor of her own grandfather who served his country in this war. This is Sailor's second essay award of the year! She currently has her VFW essay at the State level and is awaiting those results, and now has 1st place in the American Legion too!!!! Way to go Sailor!
Congratulations to Declan D. and Ruby M., 5th grade students at Lincoln School, and Sailor E. and Diku U., 8th grade students at Washington School, who were all recognized as receipients of the John Ourth Award by the Starved Rock Region of the Illinois Principals Association! The students were invited to a ceremony and recognition breakfast at Streator High School on February 20th. Way to go! (not pictured - Ruby M.)
There will be a Bulldog Appreciation Day at Washington School for our 8th grade basketball team tomorrow, Friday, February 21st! Following is the schedule of events:
2:30 - Parents and community members are welcome to convene in the gymnasium space.
2:40 - Student body will make its way to the gym/lobby area.
2:45 - Boys Basketball/Cheerleaders load the bus at Lincoln School, possibly led by a police/fire escort back to Washington.
2:45 - Washington will start to form a welcome tunnel of persons to greet the participants back into Washington.
2:50 - Coaches will say a few words of recognition for the team (Ghighi, Stokes and then DeBrock). Boys Basketball/Cheerleaders can stay in the gymnasium for pictures as long as they like.
