Congratulations to Tyler DeBrock for winning the IBCA (Illinois Basketball Coaches Association) Coach of the Year for our district! He received an award at the IBCA Coach of the Year Award Luncheon at Illinois State on Saturday, May 4th, and was even able to meet former Illini, Dee Brown. Way to go!

On Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Lincoln Elementary School, a Timely & Meaningful Consultation meeting conducted by Oglesby District #125 will be taking
place. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the district’s plans for providing
special education services to students with disabilities who attend private schools and home schools within the district for the 2023-24 school year. If you are a parent of a home-schooled student who has been or may be identified with a disability and you reside within the boundaries of Oglesby School District #125, you are urged to attend. Washington junior high invited fifth-grade students over to witness a mock trial--The State of Illinois V. Harry Potter--in honor of Law Day. Fifth-grade students served on the jury and found Harry Potter guilty of second-degree murder.
Special thanks to Criminal Defense Attorney, Doug Kramarsic, Former LaSalle County State's Attorney, Karen Donnelly, and Retired Honorable Judge, William Balestri, for participating in the trial!

Congratulations to Adalyn S. who was selected as the 2024 Americanism Essay Class I Winner. Her paper, "Why I Am Proud To Be An American", was recognized on April 18th at the local American Legion, Oglesby. She received a certificate and a monetary gift. Addi's paper moved on to the state level, and she has now been invited to read her paper in Belvidere, IL on May 5, 2024. She will receive an award and another monetary gift! We are so excited for Addi and all that she has accomplished!

The 32nd annual Those Who Excel program at Oglesby Public Schools where we honored about 45% of our students for their efforts, was held this morning at Washington School. These students have consistently demonstrated a commitment to studies and have earned Honor Roll or High Honor Roll in each of the first two grading periods.
We had a special breakfast for students along with the presentation of an academic medal and White Sox good grades incentives!
