We apologize for any inconvenience and loud noise over the next few days. Washington School is getting a new roof and the rock from the old roof needs to be removed. This involves the use of a large vacuum to remove the rocks which can be loud as I am told. This is scheduled to be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (June 19, 20, 21) of when the vacuums will be used throughout the day. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience or loud noise from the project.

Environmental Club took a walk to McPhedran Park for the End-of-Year celebration! This group has accomplished a lot this year to help take care of the community and protect the planet, including:
-raised funds for local animal shelters by selling student-designed tees
-created an Earth Day PSA that was shared with Lincoln students
-teamed up with Pet Project, Inc. to promote adopting instead of shopping by writing pet letters to Santa
-made reusable bags for trick or treating out of old t-shirts, pillow cases, and paper shopping bags
-joined the Energy Action Team and implemented energy-saving resources with kits provided by sponsoring companies
-celebrated Earth Day by hiking and having a picnic at Starved Rock State Park

Ms. Pearson’s 5th grade and Mrs. Pescetto’s 1st grade classes worked together to build treehouses on Thursday and Friday. They listened to the story “Everything You Need for a Treehouse” first. Then they built one of their own using cardboard scraps, pipe cleaner, tape, glue, scissors, popsicle sticks, construction paper and imagination.

Second Grade Field Trip to the Discovery Museum
Students were able to participate in many hands-on learning activities that revolved around science and play on the massive playground. They had so much fun!

Ms. Coble's class earned a glow day for working hard on their reading and showing growth on their I-Ready Math! The students participated in reading bowling, math ring toss, glow words and much more! It was an awesome day!

Mrs. Rogers’ second grade class enjoyed an ice cream incentive yesterday for their hard work on the end of the year math diagnostic and reading benchmark testing! They each had goals to reach and picked toppings to earn.

Ms. Pearson's fifth grade students presented their Geocity maps today. Students were required to include certain angles, lines, and shapes when planning their cities. Some chose to connect their maps with other classmates!

No school this Monday, May 27th!
