
Student council members engaged in a civic responsibility by cleaning up the an area of our community! Members picked up trash along the highway.





The Climate and Culture Team revamped the spirit stick for Washington School! Instead of a whole class winning a stick for the highest percentage of spirited kiddos, we are now looking for that one individual that goes above and beyond in each one of the grade levels. The spirit award winner receives a one time pass for technology at lunch!!! They are also recognized with their spirit pom pom on their locker!

Congrats to the Washington School Climate and Culture Committee for winning 1st place in the Oglesby City Scarecrow Contest! Way to go!



Mrs. Myer took her 8th grade classes to the Oglesby Public Library today to do research for their history fair topics. Students worked hard to learn information from the primary and secondary sources provided by the librarians. Thank you so much to librarians Lynn and Deana for organizing, gathering, and ordering all of these sources for the students. Students are encouraged to go back to the library to spend more time with these sources!





Yesterday the Oglesby Fire Department visited the our preschool students for Fire Safety Week. They got to see the fire gear and sit in the fire truck! Today the preschool students are off to the Pumpkin Patch!



Congrats to the 5th grade girls' basketball team for their win against Northbrooke's 6B team (6-4), and to the 6th grade team for defeating Northbrooke 8-6 in overtime! Way to go Lady Bulldogs!



Washington staff members had the opportunity to purchase apple cider and donuts fresh from Boggios this morning! Thanks to all staff who helped support the first morning cafe!

The 7th and 8th grade Girls' Basketball Game scheduled for October 10th at home against Pontiac has been canceled.

The 4th grade students continued with Marnie visits this week spending a lot of time outside walking her in the beautiful weather!

Thursday, October 10th is Pink Day!


The Climate and Culture Committee at Washington School recently created an OPS scarecrow for the City of Oglesby contest. A committee from the city will vote on them within five different categories including business, departments, clubs, family and or schools. The judging is based on creativity, technique/materials, and impression, and will take place on October 8th. Good luck to our OPS entry! Way to go Climate and Culture Committee!


A couple lucky students from Washington School were able to take a tour of Daley’s Service Station this past week. Thank you to Mr. Dan Daley for taking time to answer all our students’ questions and for being a great friend and neighbor to Washington School!
