Message from the Superintendent

Good morning parents and families of Oglesby School District 125,

Thanks to the partnership between the Oglesby community and the Oglesby Schools, we have been able to provide a safe learning environment for the students of this community for two semesters. Our continuous goal is to provide a safe learning environment and quality instruction throughout the course of this school year. We were able to do so for the first two trimesters because of the plan that was developed, the instructional paths that were chosen and the commitment to safety by students, staff and parents. After meeting with our transition committee, we have decided as a consensus that our current plan is the best approach that we have to offer based upon the successes we have had both with in-person and remote learning.

We are seeking your input for the instructional path that you are seeking for your child(ren) for the third trimester. The plan would be the same we have currently with the three choices and the same start and end times of the school day.   This choice will be for the 3rd trimester of this school year.  We will again offer in-person instruction with a small remote component daily, hybrid instruction (that alternates weekly- one week in person, one week remote) or fully remote learning.

Those seeking to keep the same learning path for their child(ren) will be able to do that in filling out the survey.  Those who are seeking a change in the learning path for their child(ren) can indicate that in the survey and a new assignment will be based upon student needs, classroom space and availability.   The decisions and plan are to maintain safety and adhering to the IDPH guidelines for schools where they emphasize:

  • Wearing a cloth face covering especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
  • Maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet from other adults, and from students when feasible.
  • Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
