Winners were crowned Dec. 7th at the Oglesby Elk's Hoop Shoot Free Throw contest at IVCC. In the 8- and 9-year old division, Taylor Martyn won the girls division. In the 10- and 11-year old girls division, Lauren Klein took the honors, and in the 12-13 girls division Josie Walters won. The winners will compete in the Northwest District competition Jan. 18th at IVCC. Good luck girls! read more
Students at Lincoln School have completed their Hoop Shoot Contest. The winners were:
The winner of the 10-11 year old boys was Gregory Williams. Runner up was Dalton Znaniecki.
The winner of the 10-11 year old girls was Payton Giordano. Runner up was Mia Waters.
The winner of the 8-9 year old boys was Brendan Pillion. Runner up was Anthony Snelius.
The winner of the 8-9 year old girls was Taylor Martyn. Runner up was Maddison VanZuiden.
The winners will advance to the next competition at IVCC Gym on Sunday, December 7th.
The music department presented a special music concert to honor Veteran's from the Illinois Valley on Thursday, Nov. 20th. The Oglesby band performaned the Star Spangled Banner, America In Concert, My America, and God Bless America. On their last number, God Bless America, the chorus sang the song with the band. The chorus them sang American the Beautiful and A Tribute to the Armed Forces. The Choir Chimes played Dona Nobis Pacem and the 5th Grade Cadet Band played American Celebration and Festival. In addition, Jim Ebener was the guest speaker, Lexi Wells, let the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, Jessica Znaniecki shared the poem, Thank A Vet, and Nathan Rodriguez shared the poem The Freedom Chain. The program ended with Taps being played by Emma Anderson and Hope Oldenburg.
